The President opened the meeting, stating that there were three major items of business he wanted to bring up:

1. The need for a computerized data base of members with up-to-date addresses.
2. DX Window status
3. Selection of Board and Officers for coming year

1. Data Base: W3XO stated that lack of a data base makes it impossible for SMIRK to send out mailings to its members such as election ballots. Such mailings, he said, are essential if we are to communicate with the some 6,000 SMIRK members. It will also allow us to solicit donations to increase our treasury so that we can help fund more Dxpeditions and do other things of benefit to six meters. He said that he had a list prepared by K6FV a few years ago, but that it did not include addresses and was on paper rather than in electronic form. He had brought copies of this list and suggested that those present, volunteer to take groups of SMIRK numbers, confirm the calls, look up addresses and submit them an electronic form we would agree on.
At this point, Bob McGuire, N4HY said that he could do the job in software, eliminating the need for anyone to look up calls and addresses manually. He volunteered to take on the task and said he could work from the list of members on the SMIRK Web site.

All present expressed appreciation to Bob for taking on the important and quite complex task.

2. DX Window: W3XO continued the meeting, saying that it was obvious that any expansion of the DX Window is not going to have support from ARRL or the Conductor of the World Above 50 MHZ. Gene Zimmerman, W3ZZ, current Conductor of the Column, confirmed this. Thus W3XO asked for a motion rescinding SMIRK's earlier endorsement of an expanded Window. WA1MKE moved that SMIRK withdraw its recommendation for expending the DX Window and K6QXY seconded.

A vote was taken, with all present supporting the motion.

K6QXY emphasized that we should urge our members and other 6 meter operators not to engage in long-winded ragchews on 50.125. W3XO noted that some to the Central States people had expressed, to him, similar concerns regarding 144.200.

3. Selection of Officers: It was generally concluded that this item will be taken up at the fall meeting to be held at the W6JKV Bar-B-Que.

That being all the business, the meeting was adjoined.

Note:
W3XO brought up the expanded DX Window at the Central States VHF Society Geneneral Meeting. That organization had also backed an expanded Window.
There was only minor oposition expressed to rescinding that previous endorsement. So, both organizations which had backed an expanded DX Window for 6 meters has now returned to supporting the old 50.100 to 50.125 DX Window.
