Does anyone know what sort of radio service will replace the spectrum of analog TV channel 2 next year? I have poked around the FCC website and elsewhere on the internet with no luck. This is a subject dear to my heart, being 1 mile from KTVU here in SF. I'm wondering if things will get better or get worse on 6M at this location.

4 March 2008 Hello all, Im in need of a schematic for an SB-201/200 amplifier. Also, I am looking for a copy of the article from QST, January 1969 page44, by Blodgett. It is entitled "Using the SB 200 Linear on 6 Meters". I sure would appreciate any help from fellow 6 meter ops. Dave Kerl N9HF Ormond Beach, Florida

It sure would be nice to establish a beacon system modeled after the NCDXF HF Beacon Project. Beacons from various locations are time-synchronized to share the same frequency. Imagine listening to one 6M frequency to determine where propagation may be open. Any takers?

Can anyone recommend a recent model vehicle (sedan or pickup truck) that has the least ignition and electronic noise when running 6 meter mobile?

Jim, I would recommend getting something that you can use for a long time. Maybe an Icom IC-706 MKIIG, IC-746, or Icom 756 Pro III. Yaesu and Kenwood has good equipment also. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I would get the BEST antenna you can afford and put it as high as you can. The antenna is the key to good communcations on six. During times of peak Sporadic E propagation just about anything will work but a GOOD antenna ALWAYS will work better. This is one of those hobbies where you can spend as little as you want or as much as you want. Check Ebay for used equipment. Hope this helps. 73 de Dale AA5XE

I am looking to stack 2 Telrex 6m24s ( 6 element 24 foot booms). What is the optimal spacing for these antennas and what is acceptable spacing? When making the phasing harness is there a better way to phase the antennas these days rather than using odd multiples of 1/4 wavelenghths of 72 ohm coax? And finally is the coax stub that goes in the matching network merely a 1/4 wavelenth of 52 ohm coax? Thanks for all replies.

I am disappointed that SMIRK promotes the ARRL 6m plan as the "National" plan. It is NOT! The 6m FM/repeater segment is more inline with the old 1 MHz offset or the WWRA/MACC 1.7 MHz split with the odd channels. The ARRL plans are only shown as recommended and ARRL VRAC/VUAC state that regional or other plans override the ARRL's suggested plans. The current ARRL 6m plan was not accepted by majority of 6mtr ops and I am surprised and shocked that SMIRK shows it as the definitive plan when it CLEARLY is not. Attention six meter fans and Yaesu Ft-620 owners. Please visit our FT-60 page at: http://www.foxtango.org/FT-620%20Page.htm You are also encourage to join the Fox Tango six meter forum at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FT-620B/ The primary purpose of the forum will be to discuss the Yaesu FT-620, FT-620B, repairs modifications, and overhaul of this vintage piece of Yaesu equipment. Due to the fact the topics may be limited when it comes to this single piece of equipment, the forum is also open to all those interested in six meter activity. Discussion is open to all your six-meter needs not just specifically related to Yaesu equipment. However to remain on topic, we would like to try and stick to the basic premise of the group and Yaesu equipment. Thus discussion is encouraged regarding not only the Yaesu FT-620, FT-620B, you are also encouraged to discuss other pieces such as the FTV-650 transverter and other pieces of Yaesu six-meter equipment that may have six-meter converters built. Welcome to the six-meter forum at Fox Tango International and thank you for signing on. Also visit the club primary Web site at http://www.foxtango.org Best 73s Carol L. Abdullah, The reason could be that the sporadic E season is about over. Your best bet would be to point your antenna toward Europe or Africa and wait for the band to open. There should be some openings this fall and winter. Good Luck

ISP problems probably on my end. I could not access the site earlier today to double-check the rules. Despite all the confusion, contest was still a lot of fun ... I worked W3XO and many others. Will re-revise the logs for submission. 73 KB8UYZ

Notice to all. Due to the number of questions that I have received about the .150 rule in the 2004 SMIRK contest SMIRK will accept all logs and contacts EXCEPT US to US and US to VE in the DX Window (50.100 to 50.125). ONLY US to DX contacts in the DX Window are acceptable. Tnx. 73 de AA5XE Secretary/Webmaster

I for one have difficulty accessing the SMIRK page 50% of the time. I was told earlier in the contest that US/US or US/VE contacts were to be made .130 or higher. Sorry for confusion. People say one thing , rules say another. KB8UYZ

The contest this weekend was incredibly confusing. I started out to participate by the rules as posted that is no US/US or US/VE from 50.100 to 50.150. I was informed by a senior person within SMIRK of what the intent of the rule was and that there was no problem with QSO's from .125 to .150 just don't camp on .125. OK then, why do the rules state otherwise? Secondly, I heard numerous QSO's particularly US/US on .110 on the DX Calling frequnecy. Guys if you are going to set rules for a contest then stick to them or change the rules!

Hi, I am looking for a replacement LCD unit for my FT-690, as mine cracked. The part number for my FT-690R is G6090025. I can not find any at Yaesu, UK or USA.
